October is rolling in, and at Little Island Brewing Co. (LIBC), we’ve got more than just new beers to share. From our upgraded Gillman Barracks location to a behind-the-scenes look at why craft beer in Singapore doesn’t come cheap, and a nostalgic shoutout to a regular who’s now thousands of miles away, here’s everything brewing this month.
Back in June, we quietly unveiled a refreshed version of LIBC Gillman Barracks — and if you haven’t seen it yet, you’re missing out.
We’ve expanded the indoor space, now comfortably hosting up to 250 guests. Whether you’re planning a private party, corporate event, or just love the buzz of a full room with killer acoustics, we’ve got you. The stage has been completely revamped, and if you’re a sound purist, you’ll be thrilled to hear this: our legendary Altec Lansing A4 and A5X “Voice of the Theatre” system has been fine-tuned to sonic perfection. These speakers were originally built for cinematic experiences — so yes, that crisp, rich audio you’re soaking in with your pint? It’s historic. Literally.
To match the elevated vibe, our chefs have introduced new Gillman-only menu specials. Think bold, smoky, beer-friendly dishes you won’t find at our other locations. Come hungry.
Let’s talk about the elephant in the taproom: why is craft beer in Singapore a premium?
Here’s the straight pour: At Little Island Brewing Co., we’re an independent microbrewery, not a big beer brand. We brew small-batch, right here in Singapore, to give you bold, fresh, flavour-forward beers that aren’t chasing mass appeal — just quality.
Most of our pours sit between $11 to $15 during regular hours and $9 to $12 during happy hour — far more accessible than many places charging $15 to $17 a pint.
We work hard to keep our prices as low as possible, but in Singapore, the three biggest cost drivers in F&B — real estate, manpower, and imported ingredients — are sky-high. That’s just the reality of trying to run an indie operation in one of the world’s most expensive cities.
That’s why our pricing reflects the true cost of quality and independence. Every pint you drink supports local brewing talent, community events, and innovation in Craft Beer SG.
So next time someone says, “$15 for a beer?!” — send them our way. We’ll give them a taste they won’t forget.
In July, we waved goodbye to one of our long-time regulars — the kind of person who never missed a Thursday quiz night at our Changi Village location and could always be counted on for a proper cheers and cheeky banter.
He’s since moved and — legend that he is — sent us a handwritten postcard. It arrived weeks ago, and we’re not ashamed to say a few of us got misty-eyed reading it. He wrote:
“I miss my pizza & beer and you lovely people!” – Little Pen Island Brewery Racers
Mate, if you’re reading this — know that we miss you too. LIBC Changi isn’t the same without your loud quiz answers and perfectly timed eye-rolls.
And for the rest of you — don’t be a stranger. Pop by Changi or Gillman on a Thursday. Raise a glass. Write a postcard. Who knows where you’ll be next year?
Come Hang with Us
Whether it’s your first visit or your fiftieth, LIBC is more than a place to drink — it’s where people connect over flavour, fun, and shared stories. From Changi Village to South Beach then to Gillman Barracks, we’re always pouring something worth talking about.
Check out our events, try the new Gillman menu, or bring a friend to quiz night. And if you’re overseas, send us a postcard — seriously. We’ll probably frame it.
Cheers to good beer, good music, and the people who make it all matter.
